Bengaluru: Marijuana-laced jelly chocolates sold to students, two arrested

·

Bengaluru: In a shocking case from Bengaluru, police have arrested two people who were selling jelly chocolates mixed with marijuana to medical and engineering students. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Zahid and Ismail Adnan, both residents of Vishwanath Nagenahalli in Hebbal. Police are also searching for one more person who is on the run.

This unique and dangerous method of drug selling came to light when Batarayanapura police, led by police officer K Jeevan, raided the area and arrested the two men. The police seized 1,440 grams of ganja worth about Rs 3 lakh from them.

According to the police, the accused were making jelly chocolates by mixing them with the distilled juice of marijuana. These jelly candies, which look like normal sweets, were sold for as high as Rs 6,000 per packet. The jelly melts in the mouth and causes a strong high. The police said the effect is even stronger than smoking regular marijuana or using hashish. Since the drug looked like harmless candy, it could be carried in pockets without suspicion.

The gang was reportedly running this illegal business through a friend based in Mangalore. The police are now investigating where exactly these marijuana jellies were being made.

In a separate case, a Nigerian drug dealer named Daniel was arrested on the outskirts of Bengaluru. He had set up a house in the Soladevanahalli area and was caught with 2.5 kg of MDMA crystals, which are worth around Rs 4 crore in the market. Daniel had entered India on a business visa and was using second-hand bikes to deliver drugs to dealers across the city.

Officials from the CCB Narcotics Control Bureau carried out a special operation based on a tip-off and managed to arrest Daniel. He has now been sent to jail.
